It's no secret that I love Tokyo Ghoul, so as soon as I woke to the news this morning that Ishida Sui was creating a new manga, I was over the moon.
Ishida's been awfully quiet since he wrapped up working on illustrations for the Jack Jeanne otome game, and now it looks like it's because he was busy working on a new series.
Not much is currently known asides from its title and a small snippet of shared from his personal Twitter, so let's try and play detective and work with what we know.
Ishida Sui's new work is titled 超人X (Choujin X)

"Choujin" in many ways is the depiction of a Superhuman when used in text. Often an ideal person, or a person performing superhuman feats
It also directly refers to philosopher Nietzsche's concept of the Übermensch "the Overman" https://t.co/TnlXNuzkKK
The title roughly translates to Superhuman X. Since Ishida loves his philosophy, I do think The Great Wheel brings up an excellent point that this could quite possibly be a play on the Nietzshe's idea of the Overman.
I also can't help but notice the creature on left has curiously bat-like wings. Are they devil wings, vampire wings, Femto wings? Since Tokyo Ghoul is sprinkled heavily with Berserk references, I wouldn't be surprised if Ishida's latest work is inspired by Berserk as well.It seems like Ishida is tapping into the same psychological vein of horror here, but whatever Choujin X turns out being about, I'm excited to read it and I hope Ishida doesn't push himself too hard again in the process of making it.
